The Ministry of the Interior is expanding its online information offering: citizens can now also find out about topics and dates on the social media platforms Instagram and Facebook (both Ministry of the Interior of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia / @innen.nrw) as well as via the messenger WhatsApp (Ministry of the Interior of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia).
Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul: "We want to be even more present where people are - and that is often social media. With the three platforms, we have the opportunity to reach the general public across all age and interest groups. I am delighted that the diverse and exciting topics covered by the ministry can now also be seen on smartphones. Please leave a like and a follow!"
Here are the channels of the Ministry of the Interior:

The new information offering on social media is intended to further expand citizen-oriented communication. Information and news as well as new projects from the areas of police, fire and disaster protection, constitutional protection, surveying, elections and IT are presented on the channels. Ministry events, activities and campaigns are also communicated. In the event of a crisis, the ministry also has additional platforms at its disposal to disseminate important information quickly and at short notice. Like the channels of the North Rhine-Westphalia police, the social media channels of the Ministry of the Interior are not emergency channels. In an emergency, citizens must call 110 or 112 to get help quickly.
The launch of the Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp channel therefore makes it possible to communicate verified information from the State Election Commissioner and the Ministry of the Interior as early as the Bundestag elections.
