In addition to various existing advice and support services, such as the help portal for sexual abuse, the NRW police hotline is a complementary, central and low-threshold service.
This means that anyone who has made observations that indicate possible sexual abuse or child pornography can call here. This could be children and young people, relatives, teachers, educators, doctors, nursing staff, neighbors, friends of those affected, etc.
One call helps
And everyone: The reporter, because their observations are heard. The police, because it is only through these reports that they become aware and can take action. And last but not least, the person affected, who can only get the help they need.
The person behind the number
At the other end of the phone are four female criminologists with a great deal of experience - not only in this field, but also in the area of distribution and possession of images of abuse.
Accessibility
The hotline can be reached on 0800 0431 431 from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 4 pm. Of course, those affected are not alone outside of these times either: they can contact the above-mentioned facilities or their local police station, and in an emergency they can call 110.
Background
The "Information hotline - sexual abuse of children and young people" of the NRW police is located in Department 43 "Central evaluation and collection point for child pornography" of the NRW LKA and is the first and only point of contact at police level in Germany.
