In 2022, the police authorities in NRW were able to increase the number of proceedings with asset seizures by 17.3% (from 1,384 to 1,623).

The total amount of asset seizures amounted to 85,493,064 euros. In a multi-year adjusted comparison, a positive trend can be seen in investigation proceedings with asset freezing and the resulting sum secured
(period under review 2017-2022).

In comparison to the previous year, the number of investigation proceedings received by LKA NRW on suspicion of money laundering in accordance with Section 261 StGB rose by 39.1% to 3,172 (previous year: 2,280). 

After a significant increase of 82.3% in 2021, this is another significant increase.
