(jd) A traffic accident occurred on Herforder Straße at 3.30 p.m. on Thursday (March 20). A 34-year-old man from Espelkamp was driving his Peugeot in the direction of Kirchlengern when a white motorcycle suddenly and unexpectedly turned right out of Bärenschlucht onto Herforder Straße. The Peugeot driver, who had the right of way, managed to avoid a collision with the previously unknown motorcyclist by braking hard. However, a 60-year-old man from Espelkamp driving directly behind did not manage to slow down his Opel in time, resulting in a rear-end collision. The motorcyclist involved in the accident then turned left into Im Bredensiek and failed to fulfill his obligations as a party to the accident. The two car drivers were slightly injured in the collision. They received medical treatment at the scene by the crew of an ambulance that was called. Witnesses who observed the accident told police officers that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and had long hair tied back in a plait and a full beard. He was wearing a light-colored jacket at the time of the accident. The Herford police traffic commissioner's office has taken over the investigation into the circumstances of the accident and is asking the motorcyclist involved in the accident or witnesses who can provide further information to contact them on 05221/8880.
