On Wednesday evening (24.7.), the employee of a strawberry shop on Bünder Straße contacted the Herford police and claimed to have been the victim of a theft. At around 5 p.m., the employee was in the "strawberry hut" when an unknown male person pretended to buy a bowl of strawberries. The man used a 100 euro bill to pay, which was subsequently changed by the employee. There were also two other people in the vicinity who apparently belonged to the man making the purchase.

Suddenly, the man intended to withdraw from his purchase and demanded the 100 euros back. During the exchange, the saleswoman noticed that 50 euros in return money was missing. The employee tried to draw the man's attention to the missing money. He initially walked away on his own before the two other people caught up with him in the distance. It was not possible for the employee to follow up.

The criminal investigation department is asking witnesses who observed the incident or who can provide information about the fleeing persons to call 05221-8880.
