After a traffic accident on Pestalozzistraße in Hiddenhausen on Wednesday evening (3 July), the traffic commissioner's office is looking for witnesses who can provide further information about the possible circumstances of the accident. At around 5.55 p.m., a witness found a seriously injured cyclist lying on the road near house number 6. After first aid measures and alerting the emergency services, the seriously injured 77-year-old cyclist from Hiddenhausen received further medical treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, the senior citizen was taken by ambulance to a specialist clinic in Bielefeld.
After initial evaluation of the evidence and with the support of a traffic accident team from Bielefeld, there were indications that the cyclist was initially riding on the right-hand sidewalk of Pestalozzistraße in the direction of Milchstraße. At the junction with Kleistweg, the 77-year-old entered the carriageway and passed a parked car. For reasons as yet unexplained, he lost control of his bike and fell to the ground. He suffered serious head injuries as a result.
