There was a traffic accident on Herforder Straße in Enger on Monday afternoon (29.7.) in which a cyclist was injured. After the accident, the cyclist suddenly left the scene on foot, leaving his damaged bike behind. According to the people involved in the accident and witnesses, a 51-year-old woman from Enger was driving along Herforder Straße towards the city center at around 5:50 pm. At the junction with Kesselstraße, a previously unknown cyclist suddenly rode onto the road from the right. Despite a braking maneuver by the Mitsubishi driver, she was unable to prevent the collision. The cyclist was thrown into the windshield and then onto the ground.
The pedestrian then made off in the direction of Hagenstraße (Maiwiese) despite his injuries and without paying any attention to the accident. As serious injuries and health impairments to the injured cyclist could not be ruled out, a search was immediately initiated.
While the search and accident investigation were still ongoing, the cyclist returned to the scene of the accident some time later to take care of the bicycle and other belongings. The cyclist was a 32-year-old from Poland, who was subsequently taken to Bünde hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. The damage to the Mitsubishi and the bicycle is estimated at around 1,000 euros. Herforder Straße was temporarily closed for the duration of the accident investigation.
