Traffic accident when turning

(jd) On Monday (March 3), a 74-year-old man from Melle was driving his Opel on Holzhauser Straße in the direction of Hansastraße. The man intended to turn left onto Hansastraße and initially let the crossing traffic pass at the junction. At the same time, a 43-year-old man from Damme was riding his motorcycle on Hansastrasse in the direction of Rödinghausen. When the motorcycle was level with Holzhauser Straße, the 74-year-old turned into Hansastraße and collided with the motorcyclist, who had the right of way. He and his 52-year-old pillion passenger from Preußisch Oldendorf skidded onto the road. The man was slightly injured, the woman seriously. Both were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The property damage amounts to around 7,500 euros.
