Traffic accident when turning

(jd) A traffic accident occurred on Bünder Straße at 12.45 p.m. on Tuesday (18.11.). A 77-year-old man from Löhne was driving his VW on Bünder Straße in the direction of Herforder Straße and intended to turn left into Quellental Straße. Shortly before turning, the man reduced the speed of his vehicle and finally came to a standstill to allow oncoming traffic to pass first. Immediately behind him was a 47-year-old man from Lage, who failed to slow down his Opel in time and hit the car in front of him. Due to the force of the impact, the Opel was thrown into an adjacent property wall and came to rest on its side. The 47-year-old sustained minor injuries. The wall was damaged by the impact, as was a VW parked on the adjacent property. The scene of the accident remained closed to traffic for the duration of the accident investigation.
