(jd) A traffic accident occurred at 3.10 p.m. on Friday (21.6.) at the junction of Neuenkirchener Straße and Ohsener Straße. An 84-year-old man from Melle was driving his Toyota on Ohsener Straße and intended to turn left at the junction with Neuenkirchener Straße. At the same time, a 22-year-old man from Dissen was driving his VW in the direction of St. Annen. When turning, the Toyota collided with the VW, which had the right of way. Due to the force of the impact, the Toyota skidded across the road and crashed into two electricity distribution boxes. Both drivers were injured in the accident and were taken to nearby hospitals by two ambulances after receiving initial medical treatment at the scene. The damage to property amounted to around 12,000 euros. The Spenge fire department removed any spilled fuel during the accident investigation.
