Theft

(jd) At around 2.30 p.m. yesterday (5.5.), a man from Herford returned to his apartment in an apartment building in Hermannstraße. While he was unlocking the front door, he was approached by an unknown male person: The man, who was around 40 to 50 years old, asked to use the Herforder's toilet. The man then let the stranger into his apartment and, at the stranger's request, fetched a pen from an adjoining room. While the man from Herford was in the next room, the 170 to 180 cm tall man stole the senior citizen's wallet, which was in a bag on his walker. The wallet contained various identity documents and bank cards as well as a three-digit sum of cash. The stranger has a strong build, short dark hair and a southern appearance. He was wearing dark trousers and a light brown jacket at the time of the crime. Witnesses who can provide information about this person are asked to call 05221/8880.
