Heinsberg-Oberbruch / Hückelhoven-Ratheim - On Wednesday (August 20), fraudsters targeting the bank cards of elderly people were once again on the move in the district.

At around 3.15 p.m., an elderly woman was called by an alleged savings bank employee and asked to disclose sensitive bank details over the phone. The senior citizen complied with the request. Almost at the same time, the woman's front doorbell rang in Deichstraße. The visitor, allegedly also an employee of the bank, gained access to the house after obtaining the Heinsberg woman's consent. The woman was distracted by the unknown visitor and the telephone call she was making at the same time. The fraudster took advantage of this, took the woman's bank card unnoticed and then disappeared.

He was in his early 20s, dressed in dark clothes, spoke German without an accent and had a Central European appearance.

A short time later, at around 3.40 p.m., a man's phone rang in Gendorfer Straße. In this case too, an unknown person claiming to be a banker asked for sensitive data and another perpetrator rang the doorbell and tried to get into the house. However, he did not succeed.

He was described as a man about 25 to 35 years old, about 180 centimeters tall and of strong build. He was dressed in a black jacket, dark jeans and dark shoes and was also wearing a dark cap.

The criminal investigation department is now investigating whether the same perpetrators are responsible for the two crimes.

Persons who can provide information on the identity of the persons described and other witnesses to the incidents are asked to contact the Hückelhoven Police Criminal Investigation Department on 02452 920 0.
