Last night, officers from the Soest police station carried out traffic checks on Arnsberger Straße.
The good news first: a total of around 30 vehicles were stopped. The vast majority of drivers had no complaints.
However, as is (almost) always the case with such checks: One driver was found to be under the influence of drugs and a blood sample was taken.
In addition, a telescopic baton, a switchblade knife and a large amount of cash were found in this car and with its three passengers. This provided evidence of drug trafficking. The occupants of the vehicle are now facing proceedings for trafficking in narcotics and violating the Weapons Act. The driver also faces a driving ban and a fine.
Many road users responded positively to the check and some even thanked the police.
Such and similar checks will continue to be carried out in future.
