(jd) A 73-year-old man from Kirchlengern was driving his Skoda on Goebenstraße towards Sophienstraße at 12.45 p.m. yesterday (27.5.). A vehicle suddenly drove out of a driveway onto the road, forcing the 73-year-old to swerve to avoid a collision. When swerving across the adjacent sidewalk, the Skoda hit a stone, causing material damage. The unknown driver involved in the accident initially stopped, but then continued driving in the direction of the bypass. Witnesses told the police officers who were called that the vehicle was a gray VW. The Herford police traffic commissioner's office has taken over the investigation and is asking the driver involved in the accident or other witnesses to contact them on 05221/8880.
