(jd) An attentive witness informed the police yesterday (28.1.) when he noticed a scooter driver at around 10.30 p.m.: The driver was on Weseler Straße and tried several times to pick up his obviously damaged scooter from the road and drive on with it, but failed. The witness informed the police. When the police officers arrived a few minutes later, the previously unknown scooter driver was still trying to continue his journey. As he showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, a breath test was to be carried out on the spot, but the unknown man resisted and tried to flee on foot. After a few meters the escape failed because he stumbled and so he was taken to the Bünder police station. As the breath alcohol test was clearly positive, blood samples were taken from the man, who is a 17-year-old from Bünde. During the police measures, he behaved uncooperatively and was verbally aggressive towards the officers. A search of the police systems also revealed that the 17-year-old did not have a valid driving license. According to initial investigations, he drove along Langenkampstraße in the direction of Weseler Straße, where he lost control of the moped and crashed into a fence. The damage here is at least in the three-digit range. The ownership of the scooter is still under investigation. At the end of the police investigation, the 17-year-old was handed over to a parent or guardian.
