(jd) On Friday (6 September), a 36-year-old man from Herford encountered a male stranger on Schusterweg at 7.00 pm. The stranger immediately began to verbally assault the man from Herford before suddenly punching him in the face with his fist. The 36-year-old informed the police. The suspect, a 28-year-old man from Herford, was uncooperative and aggressive towards the police officers who arrived. He repeatedly refused to comply with police measures and also tried to physically assault the officers. One police officer was slightly injured as a result. As the man showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and a breath alcohol test carried out on site confirmed this assumption, a blood sample was taken at the Herford police station as ordered by the public prosecutor's office. The 28-year-old was taken into police custody in Herford to prevent further offenses.
