Unknown perpetrators broke into several self-service machines at a petrol station on Königstraße the night before last (23.10.). The thieves used brute force to lever open the coin chutes of the cleaning machines and left lever marks behind. The machines are vending machines which, after the coins have been inserted, enable suction power to be used to clean vehicles for a limited period of time. Employees of the filling station noticed the crime at around 04:43 in the morning, when the work shift began, and informed the police. The exact damage has yet to be assessed by the owner. However, the loot is likely to be far less than the property damage caused. The investigation into the case is ongoing. The police are looking for witnesses who saw anything suspicious during the night or the days before and who can link this to the crime. Who can provide information about suspicious persons or vehicles? Information on the crime should be sent to the Herford Criminal Investigation Department on 05221-8880 or to any other police station.
