A serious traffic accident occurred in Spenge on Werther Straße on Sunday morning (September 1), in which a 52-year-old Harley rider from Hiddenhausen was seriously injured. At the time of the accident at around 10.00 a.m., a 45-year-old woman from Enger was driving along Werther Straße in the direction of Werther. At the junction with Turnerstraße, she intended to turn left into Turnerstraße in her VW Touran. When the woman from Enger almost missed the junction, she was alerted to her intended turn by another passenger. The 45-year-old briefly put on her blinker and wanted to turn left. In doing so, she overlooked the 52-year-old motorcyclist, who had already started to overtake the Touran at this point. The two vehicles collided, throwing the motorcyclist to the ground and causing the motorcycle to land on top of the driver. A witness and the VW driver immediately initiated first aid measures. The man from Hiddenhausen was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital in Herford. The Harley-Davidson was towed away from the scene of the accident. The total property damage is estimated at around 3,500 euros.
