Officers from the Heinsberg district police authority were on patrol at the bus station on October 10 (Thursday) at around 10.30 p.m. when they noticed the driver of a moped who jumped off the vehicle conspicuously quickly when they saw the patrol car and pushed it onto the sidewalk. The officers then checked the young man and his vehicle and found that it had been broken into. The driver stated that he had received the vehicle from a person unknown to him for a test drive. Investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Gerberstraße earlier today. The owner had not yet discovered the theft and became aware of it through the police investigation. During the crime, a car parked in front of the two-wheeler in the driveway was apparently also damaged. Police officers began investigating the crime, in particular the connection between the driver of the moped and the crime. These investigations are still ongoing.
In order to clarify the crime, the police are looking for witnesses who made observations on Gerberstraße between 6.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. that could be connected to the incident.
