Hyundai overturns after collision with BMW

(jd) A 66-year-old man from Herford was driving on Gaußstraße at 7.10 p.m. on Monday (5.5.) and intended to cross the intersection with Ahmser Straße in the direction of Kirschgarten. At the same time, a 48-year-old man from Lage was driving his BMW on Ahmser Straße in the direction of the highway. When the traffic lights turned green for him, the BMW driver drove into the intersection. This led to a collision between the two road users. The Hyundai overturned due to the force of the impact and came to a standstill on the road. The 66-year-old was slightly injured in the accident and was taken to a nearby hospital by an ambulance. His passenger, a 69-year-old woman from Herford, was seriously injured and was also taken to hospital by ambulance after initial treatment at the scene. The Herford police traffic commissioner's office has taken over the investigation. The property damage amounts to around 29,000 euros.
