On Thursday afternoon (29.9.), the head of the authority Jürgen Müller, on behalf of the State Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul, presented the certificates to the members of the state-wide crash course project. With the sentence "Every word you say that prevents an accident in the future - can become a life-saving word", the district administrator personally thanked everyone involved.
The project has been running successfully in the district of Herford since October 2011, reaching more than 1,500 schoolchildren every year in recent years. The program is aimed specifically at young people in year 11 and vocational school students in the district. There, police officers, firefighters, paramedics and emergency pastoral workers talk about their experiences and feelings in road accidents involving young people. With pictures and videos of accident scenes, a conscious attempt is made to reach the audience on an emotional level.
In addition to District Administrator Jürgen Müller, the head of the police department, Uwe Köhler, also thanked all team members for their regular and voluntary commitment. "It is not a matter of course - especially in this day and age - that you sacrifice your free time for this special task," said the head of department once again.
After the award ceremony with certificate and small gifts, the event ended with coffee/cake and personal conversations. Many experiences and stories were exchanged on the subject of "traffic accidents" and the "Crash Course NRW".
