(jd) A senior citizen from Bünde received a phone call on Tuesday (June 24): a person unknown to her told her that her daughter had caused an accident and that one person had died and a child had been injured. In the phone call, the woman was put under pressure and a large sum of money was demanded from her. On the instructions of the person on the phone, the senior citizen then handed over a five-figure sum at around 2.30 p.m. to a woman around 20 to 30 years old, who is around 170 cm tall and has long blonde hair. The Bünder woman later contacted her daughter on a telephone number she knew and the fraud was discovered. The Herford criminal investigation department has taken over the investigation. Witnesses who observed anything conspicuous around Bachstraße on Tuesday or who can provide information about the unknown woman are asked to call 05221/8880.
In this context, the Herford police would like to point out that no information about assets should be given to strangers and that no valuables or cash should be handed over to third parties. Citizens who receive such a call should inform the police immediately.
