(hd) On Wednesday evening (10.09.2025), fake police officers contacted a 96-year-old woman from Bünder by telephone. The fraudsters explained that the police were carrying out undercover surveillance measures in the Spradow district to put a stop to a gang of thieves. In order to protect her own valuables from theft, it was necessary to hand them over to the civilian police. The senior citizen then packed up her cash, jewelry and debit cards. She then handed over the valuables to the fraudsters. The criminal investigation department has taken over the investigation and is asking any witnesses who can provide information about the incident to call 05221 / 888-0. The police would also like to point out that genuine police officers will never ask citizens for valuables over the phone. They will also never ask you to hand over valuables. If citizens have any doubts about the identity of public officials, they should definitely ask to see an ID card and contact the office from which the alleged officer is coming.
