(hd) On Thursday (22.05.2025), a traffic accident occurred in Vlotho in which two people were injured. At around 8:30 p.m., a 50-year-old man was driving his Mercedes on Herforder Straße, coming from Herford, in the direction of Uffeln. He intended to turn right onto Neue Landstraße and therefore reduced his speed. The 54-year-old driver of a following Renault Kangoo recognized this too late and hit the Mercedes. The Renault driver and a passenger in the Mercedes were slightly injured as a result of the collision. Both people received emergency medical care at the scene of the accident. The damage to the vehicles is estimated to be at least 6500 euros. During the accident investigation, police officers determined that the person responsible for the accident was under the influence of alcohol. A blood sample was ordered. As the driver was behaving increasingly aggressively towards the other parties involved in the accident and the police officers and a physical assault was feared, he ultimately had to be taken into custody.
