Erkelenz - On Tuesday, July 9, a 21-year-old man from Erkelenz was critically injured in a traffic accident at the intersection of Kölner Straße and Goswinstraße. At around 8 a.m., an ambulance with special rights of way entered the intersection coming from Kölner Straße and intended to continue in the direction of Goswinstraße. The 21-year-old, who was riding his moped on Gerhard-Welter-Straße, collided with the rear left side of the ambulance in the intersection area for reasons that are as yet unexplained. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance. The intersection was closed to traffic for the duration of the accident investigation. The Heinsberg police traffic commissioner's office is looking for witnesses who witnessed the accident.
