On Thursday morning (4 July), there was a traffic accident on Herforder Straße in Enger in which a 37-year-old pedelec rider was seriously injured. At around 10.00 a.m., the driver of a white VW Golf was on Herforder Straße and intended to turn into Madlietweg. The 22-year-old from Ahlen overlooked the pedelec rider, who was riding on the separate footpath/cycle path parallel to Herforder Straße in the direction of Herford. The two vehicles collided when turning, causing the cyclist from Herford to fall to the ground. He suffered serious injuries to his face and legs and had to be admitted to hospital in Herford. When checking his personal details, the police officers discovered that the 22-year-old Golf driver did not have a driver's license. This had already been withdrawn from him in 2023. The damaged pedelec was handed over to a member of the driver's family. The total damage is estimated at around 3,000 euros.
