Alarmed by the activation of an eCall system, police officers were called to a traffic accident on Salzuflener Straße in Vlotho early on Wednesday morning. When the officers arrived at house number 114, they found a damaged black Mercedes Sprinter on the left-hand side of the road directly in front of a parked trailer.
According to initial reports, a 24-year-old man from Minden was driving the Sprinter on Salzuflener Straße in the industrial estate coming from Neue Landstraße. The Minden man told officers that he only wanted to look at his watch for a moment and was distracted as a result. He drove across the oncoming lane and hit a swap-body trailer parked on the right-hand side of the road. He sustained minor injuries to his arms/face as a result of the collision and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Herford for medical treatment. The badly damaged Sprinter (approx. 6,000 euros) had to be towed away from the scene of the accident.
