A traffic accident occurred in Löhne on Thursday morning (27.6.) on Kirchstraße at number 28, seriously injuring a 47-year-old woman from Löhne. The woman from Löhne was driving her white BMW X1 in the driveway at around 7.48 a.m. and intended to reverse onto Kirchstraße. As she drove in, she overlooked a 54-year-old woman who was driving her VW Touran on Kirchstraße in the direction of Bahnhofstraße. Although the VW driver from Löhne noticed the BMW driver reversing, she was unable to avoid a collision despite braking hard.

The 47-year-old was injured in the head as a result of the collision and had to be taken to hospital in Bad Oeynhausen by ambulance. Fortunately, an 8-year-old child in the front passenger seat of the BMW was not injured in the accident.

The VW Touran was so badly damaged that it had to be towed away from the scene of the accident. The total property damage is estimated at 18,000 euros. Leaking operating fluids were towed away by the Löhne fire department.
