Brighter, more modern and even more central: the new police station in Hombruch has now been officially opened and is an invitation to the public
Brighter, more modern, even more central, more comfortable, barrier-free - and now officially inaugurated. On St. Nicholas' Day last year, the officers of the guard and change service as well as the district service moved into the new Hombruch police station on Luisenglück street.

After 46 years in the old premises on Löttringhauser Straße. This Thursday (January 12), NRW Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul inaugurated the new police station in the new "Hombrucher Bogen" construction project - together with Dortmund Police President Gregor Lange and Dortmund's Head of Law and Order, Norbert Dahmen.

The new premises are centrally located directly next to Stockumer Straße and the "Barop Parkhaus" public transport stop and meet the current structural and technical standards of the NRW police. The advantages from which the officers now benefit: A larger, air-conditioned guardroom, additional writing stations for written work after deployment, ample parking facilities, garages for the patrol cars and more comfortable shower and changing rooms are just some of them.

In addition, the new building meets high energy and environmental standards.

The new police station is also a benefit for the people of Hombruch: access is barrier-free and there is more space for waiting staff. The central location also benefits anyone who wants to address their concerns personally to the officers on site.

Interior Minister Herbert Reul said at the inauguration ceremony: "After 46 years, a new police station has been built here at Luisenglück on 460 square meters. Less than 22 months after the ground-breaking ceremony. That's a real quantum leap! The new station also meets the highest security requirements we currently have for a police station."

In his speech at the inauguration, the Dortmund police chief also thanked the state government for creating a more modern "home" for the officers in Hombruch: "I believe that it is the least we can do: To create good working conditions for these dedicated employees and thus show them appreciation. Because I am very aware of one thing: the police profession brings with it many beautiful and encouraging moments, but on the other hand also many challenging and stressful moments. So if we as an authority can do something to help our colleagues endure and deal with the downsides of their job and enjoy the upsides, then I'm happy. But this station is also an invitation to the public to come into contact with their police in an environment that is barrier-free in every respect."
