On Thursday evening (27.6.), an attentive witness observed a physical altercation between three males in the area of Schillerstraße. After the altercation at around 10.50 pm, two people fled in the direction of the train station. Police officers called to the scene were initially unable to locate any of the three people at the scene.

A short time later, a 52-year-old man from Herford contacted the police and claimed to have been the victim of a robbery. According to initial investigations, the man from Herford was on Kurfürstenstraße when he was asked by a person for directions to a hospital. Suddenly and for no apparent reason, the man from Herford was then attacked with his fists by another unknown male person. He was able to fend off the physical attacks with a violin case he was carrying. The perpetrators let go of the 52-year-old after he threatened to call the police and fled. The victim then noticed that a gold necklace with a gold cross pendant was missing, the value of which is in the four-figure range. The two fugitives are described as 15-16 years old, slim and about 170cm tall. One of the youths was wearing a blue knitted cap with a round emblem on the forehead and the second person was dressed in dark clothing. The criminal investigation department is asking further witnesses who can provide information about the altercation to call 05221-8880.
