(jd) At around 4.50 a.m. on Saturday (7 September), officers from the Herford district police authority were called to the station forecourt, where a physical altercation was reported to have taken place between several people. On seeing the patrol car, a group of several people quickly dispersed at the station and fled in different directions. An obviously injured man, a 21-year-old from Bad Oeynhausen, who was lying on the ground, remained at the scene. He told the officers that there had initially been a verbal argument between him and a group of young people unknown to him. He was then punched and kicked by several males. A search of the area was immediately initiated and was unsuccessful. The Herford criminal investigation department has taken over the investigation and video footage is still being analyzed. The police are asking possible witnesses who were in the area of the station at the time to contact them on 05221/8880.
