(jd) At around 3.30 p.m. yesterday (7.5.), an officer from the Herford district police department noticed two people who had been watching people using an ATM from a car for some time. The two unknown persons then drove their Mazda to a parking deck on Werrestraße. Here, one of the two people searched the Volvo of a driver. When the two people were then to be subjected to a check, they drove off in their Mazda. They evaded police control by speeding and driving recklessly. The Mazda was then stopped in the area of Bielefelder Straße / Hollinder Weg. Both men were taken to the police station in Herford: a 36-year-old with no fixed address and a 41-year-old registered in Oelde. After the police measures were completed, both were released on the spot. As, according to initial findings, no items were stolen from the Volvo of the man from Herford, the two men now have to answer for attempted theft from a motor vehicle. The 36-year-old, who was driving the Mazda, will also have to answer for grossly disorderly driving.
