(jd) A 65-year-old man from Herford was riding his bicycle on Deichtorwall in the direction of Kreishausstraße at around 7.20 p.m. on Friday (March 21). A group of pedestrians, consisting of six young people, came towards him. One person from this group grabbed the 65-year-old's bag, which was on the luggage rack. However, as the bag was secured, the teenager was unable to take it. By pulling on the bag, however, the Herford man lost his balance and fell onto the path with his bicycle. After the fall, the youth fled in the direction of Aawiesenpark. A search by the police officers called to the scene in the immediate vicinity was unsuccessful. Witnesses who can provide information about the group of people are asked to contact Herford police on 05221/8880.
