Hückelhoven-Schaufenberg - On September 10 (Wednesday), two previously unknown men rang the doorbell of a pensioner's house in Hochstraße at around 2 pm. They claimed to have noticed a hole in the woman's roof and offered to repair it. They demanded several hundred euros in cash for the materials needed. The Hückelhoven woman handed over the money to the men in good faith. The strangers did not return. The senior citizen then filed a complaint with the police.
One of the alleged tradesmen was around 50 years old, about 170 centimetres tall and half bald. He was wearing jeans and a blue sweater.
The police are now asking witnesses who made suspicious observations in Hochstraße at the time of the crime in question to come forward.
