Accident due to blinding sun

(jd) A traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Wilhelmstraße / Tonwerkstraße / Bahnhofstraße on Tuesday (01.07.) at 5.59 pm. A 47-year-old man from Porta Westfalica was driving his Opel on Wilhelmstraße and intended to cross the intersection in the direction of Tonwerkstraße. The 47-year-old initially stopped at the stop line due to traffic and then continued his journey. At the same time, a 54-year-old man from Kirchlengern was driving his Opel in the direction of Kirchlengern on Bahnhofstraße. Due to the sunlight, the 47-year-old saw the other road user too late and both collided despite trying to slow down and swerve. The man from Kirchlengern was taken to hospital by ambulance. The damage to the vehicles amounts to around 8,000 euros.
