The traffic accident statistics for the district of Heinsberg for 2022 are available.

Significant developments:

• The total number of traffic accidents fell from 6960 to 6920 (-20 = -0.6%).
• The number of traffic accidents with personal injury (VUP) increased by 129 from 713 to 842 (+18.1%).
• The number of casualties (fatalities and injuries) increased by 16.2% compared to the previous year to 1045.
  • The number of minor injuries increased by 110 victims (+18.6%), the number of serious injuries rose by 19 (+17.0%)
• The number of fatalities fell to 10, which is one fewer than in the previous year.
• The total number of road accidents involving fleeing fell in 2022 and, at 1449 cases, marked the lowest level in the last five years. The clearance rate for traffic accidents with personal injury and fleeing rose from 59.7% to 75.8% and remains at a high level. (AQ NRW: 58.6%)
