Quality management at the Forensic Science Institute
The statutory tasks of the Forensic Science Institute of the LKA NRW (KTI) require compliance with particularly high and consistent quality standards.
LKA NRW

The quality management of the LKA NRW includes a comprehensive, holistic approach.
In addition to process optimization and the auditing of optimized processes, a specially established department supports employees through moderated workshops, for example in the development of standards or the strategic orientation of departments.

In addition, quality officers and quality managers are available to provide advice and support on all quality management issues. There is no dogmatic commitment to one solution or one method; instead, an appropriate solution is sought with the department concerned. The effort involved must be in reasonable proportion to the benefit and it must be possible to answer the question of meaning positively after the cooperation has been completed. The aim is to provide "help for self-help" in solving everyday work problems.

Quality management at the Forensic Science Institute

The statutory tasks of the Forensic Science Institute of the LKA NRW (KTI) require compliance with particularly high and consistent quality standards. These are shaped by the demands of our clients - police authorities, public prosecutors and courts - as well as by the obligation to provide services that are always at the cutting edge of science and technology.

In order to meet these requirements, the CTI maintains a quality management system (QMS), which covers the entire structural and procedural organization and is subject to a continuous improvement process. The institute management is supported by a full-time quality manager and quality officers from the respective departments. The CTI is accredited as a testing laboratory in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and as an inspection body in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020.
