Forensics
Looking to the future
This week we have a report on the experiences of our recruiter, who attended the career orientation fair (BOM) 2024 in Warendorf for the first time with active support.

"On 25.06.24 and 26.06.24, we were guests at the excellently organized BOM in Warendorf in the finest summer weather.

For the first time, we were joined by a larger team on 26.06.2024 to give pupils an impression of police work and to answer questions about the selection process. Our local forensic scientists invited the pupils to learn about forensics and securing evidence. They didn't need to be asked twice and, despite temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius, they secured footprints in the sand and fingerprints on the car.

One of our local operational trainers answered many questions about training and resources. Some of the students had the opportunity to put on the body protection equipment of the emergency services.

This was followed by good discussions with the local recruiter on the subject of application opportunities and selection procedures. Two of our technical college students also answered many questions on the subject of the police technical college, which offers the opportunity to join the police even with a secondary school leaving certificate. A uniformed trainee inspector, who is currently on his final internship at the Warendorf police station, answered numerous questions about his day-to-day work.

Some adults and regular soldiers also came to our stand with questions about changing careers. The "watch manager" of our smallest watch (the mobile watch) was also available to answer all other questions from the public throughout the exhibition grounds using his e-bike.

The experience of recent years shows that we can call many a student a colleague in just a few years' time. This was also the case for our trainee inspector, who was once "recruited" at this fair.

We would like to expressly thank everyone involved. Without the help of the local police stations and the criminal investigation department, such an effort would not have been possible."
