"Kurve Kriegen" is an initiative of the NRW Ministry of the Interior that shows children and young people at risk of crime ways out of crime so that they do not go astray. Participants are children and young people aged between 8 and 15 who are particularly susceptible to crime and whose living conditions are burdened by risk factors.
With the "Turn the corner" initiative, the North Rhine-Westphalian police are breaking new ground and involving external specialists in the task area. The educational specialists create an individual crime prevention program for the participants and their families and cooperate with the relevant youth welfare offices. The Caritas Association provides educational specialists for the district, namely Nils Ostermann and Petra Bräcklein, who are based at the Criminal Investigation Department in Hilden. They are supported by the head of the police department KHK Bernd Hildebrand and KOK'in Anna Müller-Lindloff as the police contact person for the project.
In addition to logistical and organizational tasks, the selection of participants for the project is being prepared with the help of the youth welfare officers from the regional police stations and the youth welfare offices of the 10 towns in the district of Mettmann.
