At the request of the Duisburg public prosecutor's office, a judge at Duisburg district court issued an order for a forensic medical examination of the deceased. There were no indications that the body was caused by someone else. However, it is not yet clear who the deceased was.

So far, investigators believe that the man may have been part of the homeless scene. He was 1.83 meters tall and around 50 years old. He was wearing blue sneakers with an orange lining and a white sole.

For reasons of confidentiality, we are only publishing a photo of the shoes the man was wearing at the time of his death.
