The number of crimes in Bonn and the region fell slightly last year. At the same time, the clearance rate rose by 4.4% to 54.9%. Fewer theft offenses (-1,219 cases) were offset by an increase in assault offenses (+985 cases).

"The slight decrease in crime by 0.6% is pleasing, especially in light of the overall rather negative developments at state level. There are some understandable reasons for the increase in the number of cases of assault and violent crime. However, this development still requires our special attention," commented Police Chief Frank Hoever on the publication of the crime statistics.
